IS HEBREW GOD'S MOTHER TONGUE?

I have been learning Hebrew intensively for the past five months. The love of the language has allowed me to pick it up at quite an amazing pace.

However, the question should be asked and dealt with once and for all: Is Hebrew God's Own Mother Tongue? When we go to Heaven, are we expected to speak Hebrew with God?

Sometimes, people have stretched it too far and gave the answer with an absolute, "Yes!" But does it have to be true?

My Answer

Well, this is not why we learn Biblical Hebrew or Greek in the first place! Neither of these two languages used to write the Old and New Testament are God's mother tongue.

If God's mother tongue were just Hebrew, why was the New Testament not written in Hebrew as well? If God loves to communicate only in Hebrew, does that mean the majority of us who do not know Greek or Hebrew are not able to hear God's voice?

If we look at Elijah, God spoke to him using a breeze. In the lives of other prophets, God spoke in other ways. God is not limited to only one language.

Therefore, the reason why we want to learn Hebrew is so that we can understand the Old Testament better the way that it was written.

END.
